Placing Electric Ceiling Heaters Strategically In Your Home
Categorized: Electric Ceiling Heaters | No comments
There are so many variations to heating one’s home today, and of course the most popular has been the central heating and air conditioning systems for the past three to four decades. The use of electric ceiling heaters is not a widely common item you might see in new or remodeled homes, but have many uses, that will fill the gap when it comes to keeping your home toasty warm during those cold winter evenings. The most common use of ceiling heaters has always been in the bathrooms of older homes. Especially those that were built prior to the central air craze, and cannot facilitate duct-work into the room. There are flush mounted systems that are mounted even with the ceiling, and for those homes that do not have the overhead area to install one, an external heater can be installed just as easily.
There are extremely advanced models of the electric ceiling heater available today as heating technology advances have made them safer, and more efficient in heating small areas. Ceiling heaters are extremely versatile, and are capable of being installed in rooms over garages that then tend be colder due the lack of insulation, and sealing from the garage area. Basements that are fashioned into a game room can be heated quickly and maintain the warmth throughout the room without increasing your power bill very much. Depending on which model you select a unit can heat anywhere from a fifty to four hundred square foot area. The more square footage you require the more it will cost, as they have to be able heat, and pump more cubic feet per minute.
If you like to tinker on your automobiles in the garage during the winter months then ceiling heaters can help keep you warm while you enjoy your hobby or personal time out there. These also work well in shops that you may have separate from your home, and does not have any formal heating system already installed. Models of late, have become advanced to the point where you can program the computer panel to have them start heating at certain times, and then shutdown by default at another time. In addition, anything electronic today will have a remote control device, and this will prevent you from having to install a wall thermostat or climbing up on a stepladder to adjust the settings.
In commercial settings electric heaters, especially in machine shops can be dangerous due to the flammable chemicals that are typically present. So having ceiling mounted heaters will be much safer than each employee having their own personal space heater sitting on the shop bench or floor near them while they work. There are company’s that specialize in the manufacture of commercial heaters just for this application, and can usually be installed in just a few hours upon the technician’s arrival. Of course, there will always be a need to have a licensed electrician to come and run a separate power point to where the installation will take place.
If you are a seasoned do it yourself-er then installing bathroom ceiling heaters will be a breeze, if you will excuse the pun. The hardest part will be making sure that you have the proper power run to a junction box in the ceiling where you can attach the power cords of the heater. Also, be careful in cutting that hole in the ceiling, as it might turn in a mini renovation if you have to replace the entire area, due to a cut you make in error. Overall, with a little help from one of your kids or your spouse it should just take the better part of a Saturday afternoon to completely finish a bathroom installation.
